Community Transport

What is it?

Community Transport aims to provide a flexible, personalised door-to-door transport for local groups. Working to reduce social exclusion for disabled people and provide an accessible service for groups in West Lothian.
This service is self financing, the funds to run the service are raised by the monies received from the affiliated group hire fees. The income from hires covers the maintenance and running costs of the minibus; the support costs for volunteers and administration operational costs. We continue to seek funding that will replace the Renault Master, which is going through a service review, it is still our goal to secure enough funds for a replacement minibus.

The 14 seater Blue Ford Transit, donated to us by the No Limits Group, is working hard ferrying group members to and from their activities. The minibus has some access issues, which are currently being improved.
All seats are fitted with safety restraints. Both restraints and clamps are supplied for the security of wheelchairs and wheelchair passenger.

The success and continuing development of Community Transport can be attributed to the tremendous dedication and team effort. Firstly the front line workers - the volunteer drivers and escorts who give their time and energy, ensuring that the groups and passengers receive a much needed door-to-door service Secondly there is the behind the scenes workers - the volunteers and office staff who work to ensure that Community Transport runs smoothly.
We thank all the volunteers who work so hard for Community Transport.

There are 30 affiliated groups and clubs. Over half of these use the bus on a weekly or fortnightly basis.

We have a committed team of volunteer drivers, who each give a great deal of time to Community Transport. However we still need volunteer drivers and escorts who can give a regular commitment to driving.
